Somniloquy
Thesis Statement
My thesis work explores the feeling of fear and guides viewers to a realm where imagination and reality converge. These themes of fear and sleep are such natural and familiar parts of life, and they serve as a cornerstone of this exploration. In my work I enjoy creating scenes with an eerie, uncanny quality. I utilize color and mark-making to convey emotion in my pieces along with depictions of the human figure. The juxtaposition of a relaxed figure within an ominous setting allows for a diverse range of narratives to unfold, each evoking distinct emotion. Light also plays a crucial role in influencing the mood and tone of my work. By intertwining elements of tranquility and unease, my work prompts the audience to confront their own fears hidden within the realm of dreams and the unconscious mind.
